Mide Junior Handlers Club
Mide Junior Handlers Club

The Mide Junior Handlers Club is dedicated to helping young people learn how to train dogs.  The training can be any aspect of dog training: confirmation training for a dog show, obedience training for a well behaved best friend or for compitition, Rally training for a fun compitition, Agility training for keeping a dog that is energetic occupied and for competition, tracking and earth dog training is also available.  A broader aspect of each of these fields of training and competition can be found at www.akc.org on the internet.

The members of the club have in a very short time received numerous ribbons in confirmation shows.  In March of 2007 at the Raleigh Cluster (6 days worth of shows), five of the members accumulated 8 placement ribbons in the Junior Rings, 9 placement ribbons in various Breed Rings, for a total of 17 ribbons of which the members participated on only 5 of the show days.   One member, Brooke Newton, took Best of Breed with a dog she was showing for someone else.  Most of the members participated on only Saturday.  William White took first in Novice Senior with competition on Saturday.  It was the first time he had ever been in a ring.
In April 2007 at the Myrtle Beach Kennel Club shows (2 days), held at Lake Waccamaw, NC, 4 of the members participated, taking 8 placement ribbons in the Junior Rings, 4 placement ribbons in the Breed Rings, for a total of 12 ribbons in 2 days.  Two of the members, William White and Amanda White, only participated in the Junior Rings.  Brooke Newton took first in Novice Senior with competition on Saturday, while William White took first in Novice Senior on Sunday.  Brenden Newton took first in Novice Junior on both Saturday and Sunday with competition on both days.
The Juniors in the Club Compete for fun, but work hard.  Dog shows and dog competitions can be very costly:  from obtaining a show quality dog, to training that dog, to paying entry fees, to travel, food and lodging at the shows.  The club members raise money through Car Washes,  "Fun Matches", collecting can for recycling, mowing yards, and much more.
